Every lamp and every appliance in your home has a rated power which can only be achieved at its rated voltage. These values are shown on an appliance's nameplate or is printed on each lamp -e.g. your lamps may be rated at 100 W / 230 V. It is, therefore, essential that every appliance is subject to its rated voltage of 230 V. This can only be achieved by connecting them in parallel with the 230-V supply. (For N America, read '120 V' for '230 V')

A secondary advantage is that, with a series circuit, only one appliance has to stop working, and all the other appliances would stop working too.

voltage changes in series circuits and your current would stay the same. Since all your stuff needs 120v to run you would burn everthing up.....

Is the electric circuit in your home a series circuit or a parallel circuit?

Parallel.

What is an example of series circuit in your home?

torch

What does domestic circuit connection mean?

The terminology, domestic circuit connection, usually refers to home service connections as compared to commercial or industrial service connections.

What would cause only part of a circuit in your home to go out?

a bad connection

Can a circuit breaker be locked in the on position to stop inadvertent switch offs?

No, this isn't necessary. The circuit breaker protects your home by avoiding an overcharging caused by a short-circuit. It's advisable blocking the access to the breaker.

How do you build a series circuit in your home?

You do not build a series circuit in your home. The only series circuits are the circuits that go through circuit breakers, light switches, and relays. Electrical and electronic devices use internal series circuits but those are the only ones people build. No one builds series circuits for house wiring. Electrical outlets are connected with parallel wiring.

What type of electrical circuit is used least in industry and the home?

The most common of all circuits used in industry and around the home is the parallel circuit. In industry all MCC controls are in parallel with the supply distribution and around the home all lighting circuits are in parallel with the supply distribution panel.

Why series is a connection not practical to your home?

if any item fails, they will all fail ...{not work}

Why it is often not practical to connect the electric components (example of lights) in series?

In a series circuit, if one of the light's filiments opens the bulb will go out, but along with that light every other device in the same circuit will stop operating.Think of an electric light circuit, in your home, that is controlled by a switch. When the switch is turned off the light goes out. This is an example of a series circuit where ithe switch is in series with the lamp.

What is an example of a parallel series circuit in your home?

Two receptacles on a branch circuit, each in parallel, both in series with the circuit breaker. The blower motor, ignition transformer, and oil solenoid on an oil burner, each in parallel, all in series with the acquastat (water temperature control switch).

Do modern homes use electricity that is arranged in series or in parallel circuits?

In a modern home you use parallel circuit's. The reason why they are parallel circuit and not series is For example: say your kitchen light goes off, if that light goes off the others in your house won't. They also use parallel circuit in schools. However, when there is a switch in the circuit, that switch is in series with the load, so you could say that electrical wiring is arranged in series-parallel.

What is the difference between a series electric circuit?

A series circuit is a circuit that only has one path for current to flow on, a parallel circuit is a circuit that has multiple paths for current to flow on. Parallel circuits are mostly used, especially in your house/home. The reason of that is because, if a device in a series circuit electrically malfuctions or goes down, it will stop the current flow, thus ending and cuting the whole rest of the circuit. In a Parallel circuit, if a device electrically goes down, current will still be able to flow through the other circuit branches, and the rest of the circuit, thus keeping electricity flowing.
