This abbreviation comes from the 1950s US Navy electrical shipyards assemblies.

It was used to abbreviate what was then called "Circuit Breakers".

This is how the "K" crawled in.

Today these parts are simply called connectors or headers but the abbreviation stuck since.

Many say that it is a mere spelling error, but the fact is that English abbreviations are often misspelled compared to their origin words, for example - OK abbreviates "All Correct".

yes SF6 gas is used in modern ckt. breaker.

What do you mean by IC?

the ic is a semiconductor chip which is perform some function according to need and other word it's a precise form of any biger ckt's The letters i.c. are the abbreviation for integrated circuit.

How armature resistance can be determined in a synchronous generator?

synchronous impedance can be calculated by performing oc test and sc test. by oc test, since the armature current is zero Vt=Ef . in short circuit test ,entire emf is consumed in circulating the short circuit current Isc,through the synchronous impedance. Zs=Ef/Isc.= (open ckt. terminal voltage for a certain field current)/(short ckt. current at the same field current)

What effect does transformer has a very low impedance on short circuit current?

Oh, dude, when a transformer has super low impedance, it's like opening up the floodgates for short circuit current to flow through, man. It's basically like giving a green light to a bunch of rowdy electrons to party hard and cause a massive current spike. So yeah, having a transformer with very low impedance amps up the short circuit current big time.

What do you mean by steady state reactance?

If you use AC components (i.e. inductor or capacitor ) on DC circuit, they will initially behave different than at steady state. Steady state is the state in which the behavior is not changing with time. (theoretically after infinite time, practically within small time any ckt reaches steady state)

How do calculate voltage drop in a circuit?

for calculating the voltage drop in ckt first of all you have to calculate the total resistance of the ckt as well as total current also then applying ohm's law v=IR u can calculate the voltage drop across a ckt While the answer is correct you might investigate thevenin theory.

Why put earthed strip between a circuit and the circuit board?

An earthed strip is a low resistance strip. as we know that a current always flows along a path which is having the least resistance.Whenever a fault current flows through the circuit and a possiblity is there that it may damage the ckt & ckt board the earth strip allows the fault current to flow through it and ground it. thereby preventing the damage.

What is the difference between a open circuit and a close circuit?

In an open circuit, electricity stops. Closed circuit, electricity goes. Therefore, in an open circuit, the electrical appliance cannot work, but in a closed circuit, the electrical appliance can workOpen Circuts are incomplete and Closed Circuts are complete and they let electrons flow through them.Checked by MacMillian MaGraw Hill Science Book.

Explain the use of a varactor diode in a parallel resonance circuit?

Short answer: By using a varactor diode as the capacitance in a parallel resonant ckt, by changing the reverse bias voltage you change the value of capacitance which in turn changes the resonant frequency. This makes a tuneable resonant ckt.
