Its not voltage that kills it is current.

High voltage CAN kill, if it can also provide high current (especially if the current comes near the heart as it takes under 1mA to stop the heart which isn't much current).

However if the high voltage source is current limited and/or the current only passes through the extremities it is very unlikely to kill.

How much voltage dose it take to kill an average person?

It's not the voltage that kills - it's the amperes. A few millivolts can kill if the amps are high enough.

Why voltage is dangerous?

Because high voltage very often translates into high power, which will kill you, cause damage to equipment, start fires, etc.

Why doesnt electric fences kill?

The pulses are high voltage low current.

How do you measure the current and voltage in high tension line?

To measure high voltage use suitable instrument transformer (potential transformer) Very carefully. It can kill you. The higher the voltage the more the danger or arcing over even when two conductors are not touching. Voltage meters are rated and the rating should not be exceeded. Depending on the voltage you will need the proper meter and a high voltage probe rated for the voltage you are measuring. If you don't know what you are doing, don't mess with high voltage. Leave to the pros.

How many volts can kill a person?

Unlike many common beliefs, voltage is not the main cause of death. Rather, current is. A person would be alright using a current of 0.001A but will die if current strength is more than 0.07A. However, the high voltage myth is used so commonly because the voltage itself is more well known than the current(as used in the "electric power"). And as high voltage also implies high current, this leads to the confusion. I.e. 0.07A can kill a person

Is touching a Pylon Dangerous?

Because you can touch the live wires and the voltage can kill you.CommentIt's quite unnecessary to 'touch' the live conductors. Approaching them within a few metres (depending on the voltage) will be sufficient for the high voltage to 'flash over', and inflict fatal burns. And if the burns don't kill you, the resulting fall will certainly finish you off!

Which is more dangerous high-current or high-voltage?

current is the killer not volts, you can have thousands of volts but with out flow (current) the danger is minimal, but if you have voltage its very easy to induce current so be careful and let a professional take care of it if you do not know what you are doing.

Electrical Properties of Transformers why you use it?

Transformers are used to convert electricity from high voltage to low voltage and from low voltage to high voltage.

What is medium and high voltage?

Medium voltage is over 1000 v, high voltage is over 45 kV.
