How big was a saber-toothed in comparison to a modern tiger?

The dire wold is about 5 feet in length and weights about 240 lbs and the biggest sabertooth tiger which is the sabertooth populator is about 8 feet in length and 4 feet in height at shoulder and weights about 700 to 1000 lbs. If I had to compare dire wolf to a sabertooth tiger, I would say that sabertooth would look much bigger because of it's massive shoulder muscles and all its overall appearance.

Saber toothed cats were a subfamily of cats. There were many species, and each one was a different size. One type, Smilodon fatalis, was about the same size as a Siberian tiger, weighing 350 to 620 pounds. The largest saber toothed cat known, Smilodon populator, weighed about 1,000 pounds and was almost twice as large as a tiger.
