It depends on many factors. Normally, prey species outnumber carnivores. Example: The white tailed deer in North America numbers in the millions. If the population plummeted to say, 25000, they would be consid
ered endangered. The Bengal tiger numbers just over 2100, and is considered endangered. If there were 25,000 Bengal tigers, they would not be considered endangered.
Also, the ivory billed woodpecker was never common, and now numbers less than fifty, if they exist at all. The pileated woodpecker, a similar species, has always been common. If there were 20,000 ivory bills, they would not be endangered. 20,000 pileateds would be an endangered species. So the numbers of a given species before count tremendously in determining endangerment.
There are many, including 47 that are critically endangered.
The animal doesn't necessarily have to be "missing" however the numbers will be scarce and its habitat affected by either natural or human activity for the species to be considered endangered. For the species to be considered extinct, there would have to be no more evidence to prove the animal's existance.
There are many people who help endangered animals. Anyone in fact can help out an endangered animal if they are educated.
Most animals are not endangered. To see a list of endangered animals, see the IUCN Redlist.
When an animal is endangered that means the whole species is endangered. So, all Black Bears are endangered. No, they are not. While the Asiatic species may be in some trouble, the American black bear is an abundant species, and is increasing in numbers in many places.
Sadly there are many endangered species today. These endangered spesies are expected to become extict if people do not try to help them. There are many animal shelters in many diffrent places that try especially to save as many animals as they can. Endangered species are determened when the number of the kind of animal is low.
the panda because the panda has been around for many many many many years and the panda is considered endangered. :'(
there are many endangered animals like bears, dolphins, tigers, butterflies, polar bears,
