The Galapagos Turtles are not actually endangered. They are just vunerable. They used to be endangered when the introduction of predators, grazers by humans, and hunter caused their populations fell. In 1946, the Euadorian government listed them a protected species. In 1970 it was illegal to export the tortoises. In 1971, it was illegal to in any way affect a natural object in the National Park.
