Muskies (Esox masquinongy)and Lake Sturgeon (Acipenser fulvescens)are differentspeciesall together. A detailed comparison is not really required.
The best places are Rainy River and Lake of the Woods. Minnesota allows anglers to catch only one lake sturgeon per calendar year (you need both a Minnesota fishing license and a sturgeon tag to legally harvest a lake sturgeon). There are two seasons, April 24 - May 7 and July 1 to September 30.
