What cause animal extinction?

There are many possible causes for extinction: a disease that wipes out a species; predation; low birth rates; natural disasters (fgloods, earthquakes, etc); destruction of habitat and/or food source just to name a few.

1. In ecology, the competitive exclusionprinciple, states that two species competing for the same resources cannot coexist if other ecological factors are constant. The principle has been paraphrased into the maxim "complete competitors cannot coexist".
2. Some very large worldwide natural disastercause massive extinctions.
3. There are time when it is just the 'roll of the dice". In the case of humans, we were down to around 2,000 at one time and we could have been lost. But it didn't work that way and here we are at 7 billion.
4. Another is human interference. Many pats of Asia love shark fin soup. Because of that, there are fewer and fewer sharks. The same occurred to the American Bison.
