triac act as a ac contactor
A TRIAC is a solid state AC switch. It has three terminals, MT1, MT2, and Gate. Load current passes through MT1 and MT2. In order for it to turn on, the Gate must be greater than MT1, in the same direction as MT2 is to MT1. One way to turn it on is to connect a resistor from MT2 to Gate. To turn it off, connect MT1 to gate. Once the TRIAC is turned on in a line cycle, it stays on until the end of that line cycle. This behavior can be used to create a dimmer by delaying the point in the cycle where the Gate is triggered. Note that the gate trigger voltage is not symmetrical. This can lead to a DC bias in the output. One way to resolve this is with a DIAC, which is like a TRIAC, but with the Gate missing - it will conduct in both directions at the same point - used in series with the Gate, it will help balance the TRIAC's symmetry.
A triac (triode for alternating current) is a type of semiconductor device that can control current flow in both directions, making it suitable for AC applications. When triggered, it allows current to flow until the current drops below a certain threshold, at which point it turns off. The output of a triac can vary based on the control signal and the load, allowing for dimming of lights, speed control in motors, and other applications in power electronics. Its ability to switch and control AC power makes it widely used in lighting and motor control systems.
supposed to be MOSFET. but i also depends on your working freq.
Triac.
The diac and the triac are used to control the AC lines. The difference is that triac are bigger than diac.
A triac is a high voltage AC solid state relay it is switched on by applying a dc at the gate it can't be used to switch DC because it stay on while current is flowing even when the gate is low but with AC the current stop flowing when the cycle go zero and will switch of if the gate is low
Essentially an Scr is a solid state switch that will only allow current to flow in one direction. A triac is essentially two scr's in Anti- parallel that allows current to pass in both directions.
A "triac" is a type of thyristor designed for electronic control of the current supplied to a circuit, used especially in dimmers for lighting systems.
A gateless triac is a diac. It is often used in the gate circuit of a triac to balance out the firing voltage for the triac in both quadrants, so that there is no DC offset in the controlled load. This is because, while the gate trigger voltage is often asymmetric in the two quadrants, the M1/M2 breakdown voltage is often symmetric.
Triac-Lautrait's population is 454.
If it is a physical switch, this is called a "relay" or a "contactor". If it is a semiconductor device, it is typically a triac, SCR or a thyristor.

The area of Triac-Lautrait is 6,400,000.0 square meters.
A triac is a semiconductor-based solid state electronic switch. The main applications are those which require the electronic switching of AC circuits. The switching can go from 100% on to 100% off (or vice versa) or can allow only portions of each AC cycle to pass through, which varies the amount of power supplied to the load. That is how triac-based AC lamp dimmers work.
TRIAC is the word derrived from the 2 words TRIode and AC.
