Well they weren't really designed to but i guess it is possible. Of course i recommend not doing this as it is not safe. You should only use products designed for lifting purpose's. Whether you use a ratchet strap to lift something all depending on its size as well. I recommend using dolly (Two-Wheel Cart). Hope this helped.
