Yes, I put a slight bend (approximately 20 degrees) to the sensor rod to insure that the tip was positioned better in the pilot light. Be sure not to crack the ceramic insulation. The result was a more reliable ignition to the burners.

What is a wing top or flame spreader and how is it used?

A wing top is an accessory that can be used with a Bunsen burner to provide a broad flat fan flame, similar to that of a fishtail burner. It is often used to bend glass as it spread out the heat over a larger area, making it more uniform.See the Web Links to the left for a picture.

How does flame detector works?

A flame detector is a fire protection device, which detects the flame in the place where it is fixed and issues an alarm thereby alerting nearby people to the danger of fire. In most of the manufacturing companies, furnace flame detector is used in order to detect and prevent fire. Flame detector responds either to radiant energy visible to the human eye or outside the range of human vision. Most flame detectors work either by optical flame detector or flame ionization detector but some of them use combination of both detectors.Flame detector works at specific ranges, which uses optical sensors to record the incoming radiation at a particular wavelength. The energy radiated from the flame is electromagnetic radiation and it can be identified at various spectral ranges like UV, IR and VIS. Depending upon the sensor used there are number of flame detectors available they are infra red flame detectors, ultra violet flame detector, UV/IR, IR/IR and tripe IR spectral band detector. Flame detector has a cone of vision that defines the effective capability of sensing fire. It is inefficient for slow fires however it responds faster for rapidly developing fire like combustible gas and liquid. It is available in different shape and size. What is a wrought pipe bend?

wrought pipe bends means straight pipe bend using rotary draw pipe bender. or pipe bend by any method

Which type of flame is used for high carbon steel?

Most cutting and welding is done with a neutral flame.

What is 5D in bend pipe?

The RADIUS of a 5D pipe bend is actually what is 5 times the nominal diameter. So if you had a 10" diameter pipe, the radius of the centerline of the bend would be 50 inches.

Where is the flame sensor located on a furnace?

The flame sensor on a furnace is typically located near the burner assembly, usually positioned in the path of the flame.

What does a Flame sensor in a hot surface ignition furnace do?

It tells the furnace that it lit... Hence the name Flame Sensor.

Where is the flame sensor located on my furnace?

The flame sensor on your furnace is typically located near the burner assembly, close to where the flame ignites. It is a small metal rod that detects the presence of a flame and signals the furnace to continue operating.

How does a flame sensor in a water heater ensure safe and efficient operation?

A flame sensor in a water heater detects if the burner flame is lit. If the flame goes out, the sensor shuts off the gas supply to prevent gas leaks and potential hazards. This ensures safe and efficient operation by monitoring the presence of the flame and preventing the heater from running without it.

What is the purpose of a flame sensor?

A flame sensor is a program used to detect "flame" on various blogs or comment boxes. Various Websites may use these sensors to dish out trolls or other internet vermin. On the other hand a flame sensor is also a device used in machines that are subject to very high temperatures. For example, a flame sensor is standard in many home ovens. So this in fact is a very useful safty feature.l

Where is the flame sensor located in a typical heating system?

The flame sensor in a typical heating system is usually located near the burner assembly or pilot light.

What is the function of the water heater flame sensor and how does it contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the water heater?

The water heater flame sensor detects if the burner flame is lit. If the flame goes out, the sensor shuts off the gas supply to prevent a dangerous gas leak. This ensures the water heater operates safely and efficiently by only allowing the burner to function when the flame is present.

What are the common symptoms and troubleshooting steps for a furnace issue related to a bad flame sensor?

Common symptoms of a furnace issue related to a bad flame sensor include the furnace not staying on, frequent cycling on and off, or the furnace not producing heat. Troubleshooting steps for this issue include cleaning the flame sensor with steel wool, checking the sensor's alignment, and ensuring the sensor is securely connected to the furnace.

How does a flame sensor works?

A flame sensor is a safety mechanism installed on gas furnaces. It is located directly between the burners and the gas supply. When your gas kicks on, the flame sensor MUST detect a flame. This safety mechanism is to prevent your house from filling up with un-lit gas. Even if your burners are igniting, if your Flame Sensor is dirty (covered in carbon from typical use) it will fault out, thus shutting off the furnace over and over. If this is the case, your furnace will kick on every 2 minutes (because the thermostat tells it your house is too cold) and then will shut off after 5 or 10 seconds as a result of the Flame Sensor Fault.

How do you clean a FLAME SENSOR?

How long should a york flame sensor last?

A York flame sensor typically lasts for several years, around 5-10 years on average, but this can vary based on usage and maintenance. It is important to regularly clean and inspect the flame sensor as part of routine HVAC maintenance to ensure it functions properly.
