You would need to know the maximum watts and voltage you could generate then go from there. In home use you use 12 gauge wire at 120 volts to handle up to 20 amps. 14 gauge for 15 amps. If you're operating in 12 volt it's a different ballgame.
In parallel circuits all positives go to negatives, in series it is positive to positive,negative to negative. The difference example , if 12 vote batteries are in parallel 2 batteries would produce 24 volts, in series you would boost the time required to depleate the battery, but it would stay at 12 volts.

Run a wire from the POSITIVE terminal on the battery and touch the red wire (positive) to the window motor and run another wire from the NEGATIVE terminal on the battery and touch the green wire (negative) to the window motor. The window should go down. Reverse the wires to make the window go up.
The red battery wire goes on the positive + battery terminal no matter which side it is on. The black wire goes on the negative - terminal.

All you have to do is turn on the car into ignition area and grab a voltage meter. Find positive first, to do this, find a good ground spot on your vehicle, such as a screw or metal, than with the red meter wire, go around til you find one that makes the volt meter go up... that is your power wire. Now, go from that wire, and check for your ground wire. Hold the positive wire onto the positive spot on your vehicle, and use the black wire to check until the meter goes up, that is your ground. Now you are done.

it is not recommended because the 14 gauge wire is not capable of carrying the same amount of load as the 12 gauge wire which could result in a fire.
