What is the Sowing Machine?

In farming it is an automatic seed dispenser that is towed behind a tractor. A small hand-cranking version is also made for small farms. It broadcasts or spreads the seeds evenly as the farmer walks through the field or garden area. However, if you misspelled and meant a sewing machine, this is a machine that allows the human operator to attach two pieces of material together with thread quickly and neatly. Before its invention, all sewing was done by hand -- very slow and boring method of enlarging the family's wardrobe.

What inventions made it possible for farmers to sow 135 acres?

The major invention was the diesel tractor that was, eventually, to replace the horse. What ever acreage the horse could plough in a day, the tractor could do in a few hours. The harrowing, seed sowing, and harvesting would be done in much less time it would have taken by manual labour/horse drawn methods.

Are seed drills used today?

Yes. Seed drills still have to be used to sow seed in the fields. Some folks prefer seed drills (like the packer drills) to air seeders because of the power that the packers have when sowing seeds, like grass seeds, which grow best when the soil is packed down moderately when sown.
