In order to finish an engineering degree in 4 years you must work hard and not take any time off. Coops, while very good for your resume, will likely set you back a full year. Even though a Coop is only one semester, most engineering classes are only offered once a year. Thus, if you miss one spring semester for a coop, you will have to wait until the next spring to take the classes you missed. You cannot fail classes (unless you retake them during the summer and pass) otherwise the same issue occurs. It is doable though!

In the first year of a B.Tech program, students typically study foundational subjects that include Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, which provide essential scientific principles. Additionally, they often take courses in Engineering Mechanics, Computer Programming, and Basic Electrical Engineering. These subjects aim to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge for more specialized topics in later years. Some programs may also include introductory courses specific to the chosen engineering discipline.
Engineering is for students who have a fascination and curiosity for the subjects and tasks that engineering deals with. Others need not apply. It makes very little difference what they're good at or not good at. (Answer written by a person with a piece of paper that says he became an engineer almost 40 years ago, and who is still at it.)
You will have to start over because you are moving subjects/departments. It would be another 3 years of schooling. I would imagine you would want to get to work.

That combination of commerce subjects allows you to apply for a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
Herbert Hoover had a strong affinity for subjects like mathematics and geology during his school years. His early interest in engineering and the sciences influenced his later career as a mining engineer. Additionally, he was known for his love of reading, which helped shape his knowledge in various fields.
