Allows scientists to induce a cell to make needed chemicals.
Genetic engineering is the the use of various methods to manipulate the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)of cells to produce biological products or to change hereditary traits
The genetic traits, both physical and behavioral, that the individual possesses on his personal genome.
the nucleus contains a cells genetic information
Yes!! Genetic engineering is defined as the direct manipulation of an organism's genes. Though I do believe there should be some limitations on what we do with genetic engineering, it can cure so many genetic disorders and illnesses. Keep in mind that nearly EVERY human disorder has an underlying genetic cause. For instance, people with Sick Cell Anemia have a point mutation in the gene that codes for hemoglobin. This mutation results in abnormal function of the hemoglobin in their blood cells, which causes the cells to turn sickle shaped when they are deoxygenated. It shortens life expectancy to mid 40s, and can cause very painful and potentially lethal complications. However, with genetic engineering we could insert a functioning copy of the gene into a patient's bone marrow cells, and they would be able to produce normal blood cells. In a few months after all their defective sickle blood cells died off, they would be free of the disease. However, I think use of genetic engineering to change a human's appearance, intelligence, or behavior is too much.

That depends on what the other organism is. When DNA is inserted into a prokaryote (E. Coli for example), we call it transformation. When DNA is inserted into a eukaryoate (yeast or human cells for example), we call it transfection.
Most genetic damage in cells does not affect offspring because it occurs in somatic cells, which are not involved in reproduction. However, if genetic damage occurs in germ cells (sperm or eggs), it can be passed on to offspring.

Crossing over during cell division can lead to genetic recombination, resulting in new combinations of genes in the offspring cells. This process can introduce variations in the appearance of the cells by creating unique genetic profiles that may influence physical traits or characteristics.
A virus can conduct genetic engineering by using it to insert a gene into a cell. The virus containing the gene is called a vector. By changing the cell, you can introduce to other cells.

A blasticidin is any of a class of antibiotics used to select transformed cells in genetic engineering.

Genetic engineering is the term describing the manipulation of DNA in cells to produce disease-resistant crops and animals for agriculture. This involves altering the genetic makeup of organisms to introduce specific desirable traits.
Some types of cells that have been transformed include cancer cells, stem cells, and bacterial cells for genetic engineering purposes. Transformation can involve altering the genetic material of a cell to express different characteristics or functions.

If you ask Monocytic organisms, there are Transformation,Transduction etc.
