IN DC MOTOR

There are 2 types of windings:

1. Field winding

On poles core which are on stator body. These are always concentrated type.

2. Armature winding

On rotor on motor may be simplex or multiplex and lap or wave connected.

IN AC (Synchronous ) MOTOR

3-phase star or delta connected on stator (armature ) supplied

by 3 phase may be concentrated or distributed (usually preferred) .

Rotor (field ) has concentrared in salient pole type nd distributed in cylindrical type supplied by DC supply.

IN AC ( Induction ) MOTOR

3-phase (star or delta connected) distributed winding on stator and wound rotor .In squirrel cage rotor short circuted copper bars are used.

Do all single phase motors have a start and run winding?

No, commutator motors as used in vaccum cleaners for example do not use a starting winding. Single-phase induction motors need a starting winding without which they will start in either direction if given an initial twist.

What are types of windings in low voltag windings?

to achieve high voltage Wave type winding is used...... For high current Lap winding is used.

Why use resistor grids in DC motors?

resistor grids were used in DC MOTORS during dynamic braking. in this method of braking a resistance ( variable) is connected across armature winding so as to dissipiate the energy. the energy thus dissipiated is used for braking of motors.

What starting device is used on single phase fractional horsepower compressor motors?

A centrifugal switch is used on the starting winding of fractional HP motors. It is used to start the motor one the start winding and at a predesignated rotational speed the switch opens to de-energize the start winding and the motor carries on running on the run winding. Another device that should be on compressor motors is an unloader valve. Sometimes it is electrical driven and other times it is mechanical. It is used to used to unload the pressure from the compression cylinders. Without this pressure being unloaded the motor has to start against the pressure in the cylinder head and the added current draw on the motor is sometimes enough to trip the overload protection of the motor.

What are the two types of bearings used in motors?

What are the different types of motors used in Broan bathroom fans?

The different types of motors used in Broan bathroom fans are typically either AC motors or DC motors. AC motors are more common and are powered by alternating current, while DC motors are powered by direct current. Both types of motors are used in Broan fans to provide efficient and reliable operation.

What is orthodox perm winding?

Orthodox perm winding is a specific technique used in the manufacturing of electric motors. It involves winding the coils in a motor in a precise and organized manner to ensure optimal performance and efficiency. This winding method is commonly used in industrial applications where reliability and precision are crucial factors in the motor's operation.

What kinds of motors can work as generators?

Some types of dc (direct current) motor can be used to generate dc, in which case they are often called 'dynamos'. Some alternating current (ac) motors can be used to generate ac, in which case they are called 'alternators', but many types will only work as motors. For instance, a squirrel cage ac motor cannot be used as an alternator.

What types of material can a winding machine be used on?

A winding machine is used to wind the string, wire, cable, thread, rope, etc onto a spool or bobbin. They are of various types from simple winding machines to complex programmable winding machines like CNC winding machines. Mostly winding machines are used in textile, and paper industries, to quickly wrap a large amount of string or paper onto a spool. These winding machines are used by small to large businesses according to the winding needs.

Which winding has the higher resistance start or run in single phase motors?

start winding is thicker with less number of winding whereas run winding is less thicker than start winding but with more number of winding. As we know inductance depends upon numbers of turns of winding so run winding will have more inductance.

What are the types of braking used in electrical motors?

Mainly 2 types of braking are used: rheostatic braking and regenerative braking
