we all know that electrons, photons, phonons can excite an electron from valence band to conduction band...i think the main difference between electronic bandgap and optical bandgap is that in electonic its the energy required for an electron to move from the valence band to the conduction band.but in optical bandgap photons(packet of energy in the form of light waves) are assisting the electrons to move from valence band to conduction band. The difference between optical and electronic bandgap is more complexe actually. The optical bandgap is the one that can be measured using optical techniques (based on transmission and reflection, i.e. Tauc plot). However, this measurement does not take into account all traps you might have within the bandgap that can modify the energy required to move one charge carrier from the conduction band ans the conduction band. The electronic band gap (which is the one of interest in fine, in an integrated device) is measured under operation. Thus, for many devices (lasers, solar cells...etc.) the electronic bandgap (energy required to get the device working) can defer from the optical bandgap.

The power requirement in an optical system is typically calculated by considering the optical efficiency, the input light intensity, and the desired output performance. The total power needed can be derived by evaluating the losses due to absorption, reflection, and scattering in the system components. Additionally, factors such as the gain of amplifiers and the required signal-to-noise ratio play a crucial role in determining the necessary power levels. This calculation ensures optimal performance while minimizing energy consumption.
optical cpupler is used is generally used in 3 instrument 1. optical switches 2. optical weight measurement instrument 3.optical temperature senses my minor project is optical weight measurement device. how we measure weight ? in optical couple r two arm one use as reference arm and another one is experimental arm. we put any weight on experimental arm than light intensity decrease by variation of this intensity we can measure weight.
One of the advantages of optical fiber is that it is NOT susceptible to cross-talk.
The optical property required for frosted glass in a bathroom is translucency. Frosted glass allows light to pass through while maintaining privacy by diffusing and scattering the light, preventing a clear view of objects on the other side.
i love my cordless logitech optical mouse it works so much better than any trackball. For those with a long memory the trackball mouse came first, required a mousepad for grip and needed cleaning frequently. That was then this is now as optical mice can work on any surface a compute will sit on. Optical mice use an infrared light to count the bumps you cannot see but the mouse can. Optical mice last longer as there is less to wear out
Some common optical line coding methods include Non-return-to-zero (NRZ), Return-to-zero (RZ), Manchester encoding, Differential Manchester encoding, and amplitude-shift keying (ASK). These methods are used in optical communication systems to convert digital data into optical signals for transmission over optical fibers.

No. They are strictly science fiction and depicted using optical effects or CGI. There is no known way to release energy in coherent form with a terminating length. The energy would be released in all directions rather than forming a pseudo-solid energy blade.

Optical systems should be used when high precision and accuracy in measurements are required, such as in scientific research, telecommunications, or imaging applications. They are also beneficial in environments where electromagnetic interference may affect electronic devices. Additionally, optical technologies are ideal for applications involving high-speed data transmission or where visual representation is crucial, such as in medical imaging or microscopy.
light is must for optical microscope while is not necessary for nonn optical one
Optical zoom cameras are used to take a shot in which a far-away object appears both prominently and clearly. Essentially you need a decent zoom lens to obtain this ability, and a good camera with a widely-adjustable lens offers this feature.
