Normally through an automatic feeder preset 12-15 psiIdeally you want a slow feed so as not to thermo shock the boiler and cause premature failure.=Most make up water is supplied on the return side of the boiler to temper the incoming water=

no, it will not add substances but may or will evaporate just giving the water in a different form but keeping its same properties .

Where is the radiator located in a 1997 Pontiac grand am gt?

Most radiators are located in the front of the motor, there should be a cap on one side or the other of it to add water.

How do I add antifreeze to hot water heat system?

My heating system currently has antifreeze in it. The system is completely isolated from the house water system. A small RV water pump is used to fill the system and pressurize properly. I do not know the type of antifreeze used in the system. With complete isolation, automotive should be acceptable. I am investigating RV antifreeze as well. Automotive antifreeze is toxic. There must be no connection between the heating system and the potable water systems. Isolation valves are not acceptable. The usual FHW heating in a home or other building is connected to the water (drinking water) supply with a pressure valve at the boiler.Automotive antifreeze is deadly and can cause blindness even in small amounts. There is a special antifreeze (non toxic) for use in heating systems where a backup/mix/crossover with the drinking water could occur. You could also burn out your circulation pump by using the wrong antifreeze, which is very expensive to replace.

Where is radiator cap on 1993 Saturn?

Saturn radiators don't have caps to check and add fluid to the radiator you open the overflow tank and add it there

Does a leak in radiator valve cause low heat?

Hot water heat is typically a closed system, and the pressure gage is used to determine if the system is full of water. Loss of water in a closed system will create air gaps in the water flow, and the boiler is not capable of heating air. Low water level arriving back to the boiler will trigger the high-temp shut off switch, and the water will not become hot. Add water to the system and check the gage. To add water, open slightly the system drain valve (should be located in a pipe at the top of the system) and fill the system thru the inlet valve with a hose from a faucet until the spray from the open drain valve is solid. Close the drain valve system, and then close the inlet valve. Close the faucet valve and remove the hose.

Why is antifreeze added to car radiators?

because liquid, especially water can dissipate heat. Water's actually the best at dissipating heat but since water boils/freezes(we don't want that especially in the winter, it'll just crack your rad due to expansion) they add antifreeze.

Does pouring water into the reserve tank in over heating car causes damage?

It can. You should leave the engine running while you add water to the radiator. If you add water with the engine turned off, but while the engine is overheated, you might damage the engine or the radiator.

Can a second hot water heater be added to existing water system to add hot water supply to the house?

Yes

Can you adjust the pressure on a hot water baseboard heating system?

Yes, add or remove water. Add to increase and remove to decrease. Use the autofeed valve to do this. Lifting the lever allows city water pressure into the system. Lowering the lever puts it back to its limiting setting. Most auto feed valves have a pin under the cap that can be adjusted by screwing in the top or unscrewing the top. This adjusts the preset pressure. Never go over 25 pounds or you will discharge the pressure relief valve.
