It would take pretty much the same amount of electricity to turn a generator and the generator would make. Tightening up windows, making sure lights are turned off when not in use, raising the AC temp a bit and adding a fan will get you more benefit. If I understand this right, you want to take your service and run it into a motor, use the motor to turn a generator, and power the house off the generator. The only possible way you could save money here is to severly undervoltage your appliances, and you would not be happy with the results. If you run your home at the right voltage you will use the same amount of power as before, plus the losses incurred in the motor-generator rig. Not to mention appropriately sized motors and generators would be cost prohibitive, you would spend more than you would save setting this up. Also motors of the size needed are generally 3 phase, which requires more expensive service. This is the power saving equvalent of a get-ritch-quick scheme or fad diet. Just turn off appliances you arn't using, buy flourescent lights (whole fixtures are better than CFLs, for reasons beyond this scope), set your thermostat so your heater/AC doesn't run as often, draft proof your house, and insulate it well. That will save you much more money than this ever would.

What is the function of capacitor in an electric generator?

In an electric generator, the function of a capacitor is to provide reactive power and improve the power factor of the generator. When a generator is connected to a load, the load may have a combination of resistive, inductive, and capacitive components. Inductive loads can cause the power factor of the generator to decrease, resulting in lower efficiency and voltage regulation. By adding a capacitor in parallel with the generator, the reactive power generated by the capacitor can offset the reactive power of the inductive load, leading to improved power factor correction. This helps to enhance the efficiency of power transfer and stabilizes the voltage. The capacitor absorbs and supplies reactive power, reducing the strain on the generator and ensuring a steady and efficient supply of electrical energy.

What would happen if a shunt-excited DC generator was operated at too low a speed?

A shunt generator is a type of DC generator that does not use a permanent magnet. Reducing the speed of the generator will reduce the output, but not the load the generator requires because the currents in the parallel branches are independent.

What is the ideal water pressure of a home?

The residential house Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) usually has setting capabilities of between 25-75 PSI. Normally, 50 PSI is suitable.

What affect does a leading power factor have on alternator generator excitation currents?

When a leading power factor load is applied, the voltage of the genset or genset bus rises, and the voltage regulation system reduces exciter power, reducing the strength of the magnetic field. If the field fails, the generator set may slip a pole, which results in potentially catastrophic alternator damage. pawan

Why 400kVA and above the transmission line have bundled conductor?

To reduce the electric field intensity at the surface of the conductor which can lead to corona discharge and insulation breakdown. By using bundled conductors, the electric field is distributed between the four (in the case of 400-kV lines) conductors, thus reducing the field intensity per conductor.

What are the benefits of using an electric inline water heater in a residential setting?

Electric inline water heaters offer several benefits in a residential setting. They provide instant hot water, are energy efficient, and take up less space compared to traditional water heaters. Additionally, they have a longer lifespan and can be easily installed closer to the point of use, reducing heat loss in the water distribution system.

What will happen if less current rating fuse is connect to function generator?

By reducing the output fusing of a generator, the total output of the generator will also be reduced. The capacity of the generator will remain the same but the fault trip point will be lowered.
