Hardiflex fiber cement board is not completely waterproof, but it is highly water-resistant. It is designed for use in areas exposed to moisture, making it suitable for applications like bathrooms and kitchens. However, it is important to use proper sealing and waterproofing measures in conjunction with the board to ensure optimal protection against water damage.
If you are talking about a fiber cement backer board, the manufacturer of the board should provide the answer you are after. I am currently using Hardiplank to reside my house, and the manufacturer recommends attacheing the TyVek house wrap to the wood sheathing per TyVeks recommended process. Hope this helps.

Concrete is strong in compression, as the aggregate efficiently carries the compression load. However, it is weak in tension as the cement holding the aggregate in place can crack, allowing the structure to fail. Reinforced concrete solves these problems by adding metal reinforcing bars, glass fiber, or plastic fiber to carry tensile loads
There are three factors affecting the overall cost of the siding product you select: the cost of materials, labor and paint or stain being applied. Of particular interest is comparing the total in-place, system price (including paint or stain) to other cladding systems. Fiber cement costs about 75% less than natural stone, 37% less than cedar, 24% less than wood siding and slightly more than hardboard siding to install and finish on a new home.

Hardiflex, a brand of fiber cement board, is not completely waterproof but is highly water-resistant. It is designed for use in humid and wet environments, making it suitable for applications like bathrooms and outdoor areas. However, it is essential to ensure proper sealing and installation to maximize its water-resistant properties and prevent water infiltration.
The formula to calculate the density of cement fiber boards is: Density = Mass / Volume Measure the mass (weight) of the board, then calculate the volume by multiplying the length, width, and thickness of the board. Finally, divide the mass by the volume to get the density.
Typically you dont want to tile directly over wood. The reason is that wood will shrink and grow depending on moister, and you will end up cracking your tile. Your best option is to put down a cement board or a fiber board. This can be picked up at a lowes or home depot. My preference is the 1/4" fiber board, it is really easy to work with, you can cut it with a skill saw, where you cant do that with the cement board. You are also going to want to tape your joints on your fiber board, this will help prevent cracking of grout joints and tiles. Good luck
Yes, Hardie board can get wet and still maintain its durability and integrity due to its moisture-resistant properties and composition of cement and fiber materials.

To effectively cut fiber cement siding, use a circular saw with a carbide-tipped blade or a specialized fiber cement blade. Make sure to wear safety goggles and a dust mask, and cut the siding with the finished side facing up to reduce chipping.
