No. A battery is a constant voltage source. Batteries are sold as having a specific voltage (1.2 volts, or 1.5 volts per cell), not a specific current.
The output of a solar panel is direct current. Transformers need alternating current to operate.
battery A generator electrical outlet solar panel wind turbine or any source a voltage can be obtained.
The current will of course vary with the intensity of the imparted light and with the temperature of the panel.
It really is. A tiny solar panel collects sunlight, which then creates an electrical current. This current passes through a tiny electromagnet, which cause a switch to be held open so that power can't get to the light. When the sun goes down, power is no longer being created at the solar panel, which in turn causes the electromagnet to stop being magnetized. This causes the switch to close, which then cause current to flow to the light.
A 'voltage source' is a general term, for anything that can supply electrical power. It can be a battery, generator, solar panel etc.It is mentioned on schematics and other diagrams, to show where the power is applied.

when the sun hits the solar panel it creates a current

It is a kind of solar light. And it may use a solar panel as power source.
(Another contributor wrote:)Light has its own energy and when it is conducted by a material the energy turns into electrons which are collected and made into direct current electricity (DC). When sunlight fall on a solar panel (pv cells) the electrons get excited and start flowing and the electron flow is nothing but electricity. Thus a solar panel produces electricity.
A solar panel produces electricity through a process called the photovoltaic effect. When sunlight hits the solar panel, it excites the electrons in the silicon cells, creating an electric current. This current is then captured and converted into usable electricity for powering homes and devices.
The sun Edit: As I know it's photons.

The output voltage of 12V 5W solar panel is 12V. The current is 0,41667A. These values are normaly calculated with 1000W/m2 of solar radiation.
