it is called it cause it is so long so that is y they call it the mighty mac
The five-mile long bridge now fondly called "The big Mac", including the approach roads, were, at the time, the world's longest suspension bridge between cable anchorages. The bridge itself was designed by engineer Dr. David B. Steinman. Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corporation's $25,735,600 agreement to build all the foundations led to the mobilization of the largest bridge construction fleet ever assembled. The American Bridge Division of United States Steel Corporation, was awarded a $44,532,900 contract to build the superstructure. A.B.D. began its work of planning and assembly in 1953. In several U.S. and Canadian Steel mills the various shapes, plates, bars, wire and cables of steel necessary for the superstructure and for the caissons and cofferdams of the foundation, were prepared. The bridge was officially begun amid ceremonies on May 7 & 8, 1954, at both St. Ignace and Mackinaw City.
A bridge can filter, forward based on its MAC address forwarding table. The bridge will note any MAC address that is the source address on a frame and the port that the frame was received. Then it will forward or filter depending upon the forwarding table. If a MAC address is found on more than one port (because of loops in the network) then the frame is forwarded on both ports. If a frame is received on a port and the destination MAC address is only found on that port then the frame is filtered and discarded. If the destination MAC address is not found in the forwarding table, then the bridge will flood the frame out all ports except the receiving port. A router will build a routing table based on the routing protocol that is being used in the router. The routing protocol (RIP, RIPv2, AS-AS, OSPF etc) will have a method of identifying the best route to send the IP packet to the destination. When an IP frame is received then it will be routed on the best route to the destination
Bridges and switches operate at the same OSI layer - layer 2. That means they switch packets based on the destination MAC address. A switch is sometimes called a multi-port bridge.A bridge has 2 ports, whereas a switch can have many more than that.
The beautiful Golden Gate Bridge is the large suspension bridge located in San Francisco, spanning the gateway between the opening of the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The length of the bridge from abutment to abutment is 1.7 miles, the width is 97 feet and the bridge weighs around about 887 thousand tons including anchorages and approaches. The bridge is painted Orange Vermillion, also known as International Orange, and needs constant touch ups to make sure the salt content in the air does not erode it. When the Golden Gate Bridge was completed in 1937, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world. It is now the 2nd longest suspension bridge in the United States and the world's 9th longest suspension bridge.

I am unfamiliar with the Machinaw Bridge, so I assume you are talking about the Mackinac bridge? The third largest suspension bridge in the world. The Mackinac bridge has common nicknames such as: "Big Mac" or "Mighty Mac"
Carrying four lanes of traffic, the "Mighty Mac" is 26,372 feet (8,038 meters) in length, and allows an average of 11,600 crossings per day. The toll fee is less expensive than ferry service. It keeps painters employed, as it takes seven years to completely paint.
The answer is the Mackinac Bridge - "The Mighty Mac" - pronounced 'mack-i-naw'The Mackinac Bridge is currently the third longest suspension bridge in the world, and the longest suspension bridge in the western hemisphere. Total Length of Bridge is 5 MilesThe bridge opened to traffic on November 1, 1957, for the first time ever, linking the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan at St. Ignace and Mackinaw City. The bridge spans the Straits of Mackinac, and is located on Interstate 75, 295 miles North from Detroit. The Straits connect Lake Michigan on the West to Lake Huron on the East. One of many interesting facts that can be found at http:/www.mackinacbridge.org is that: -"All suspension bridges are designed to move to accommodate wind, change in temperature, and weight. It is possible that the deck at center span could move as much as 35 feet (east or west) due to high winds." The bridge has been closed during severe weather. There is also a 'bridge cam' at http://www.mackinacbridge.org/bridge-cam-20/Warm summer dayReaching to the skyCenterline

in STP if both switches use the same default priority, the switch with the lowest MAC address will be the root bridge.
