Not cleaning the pipe or joint enough, not using flux, or not heating the pipe or joint enough. You use the blue tip of the flame on the joint and the capillary action sucks the solder into the joint. You have to clean the pipe with sandpaper or steel wool, the joints with a fitting brush on the inside, and use a proper flux and solder.

What is the function of the flux in soldering?

Flux can be in many different forms. it can be in the solder, it can be in a soft form like butter, or it can be in a pen like a tide stain stick. it is used on the solder iron and on the thing you're soldering to make a good surface for the solder to stick to. Basically it makes soldering easier, it can be done with out it.

In soldering iron copper tip is attached on iron rod why it is made of copper?

... well one thing is is to prevent corrosion and copper tips conducts or stick more easily into lead, which make your soldering more easy and accurate time. slowly these copper tips becomes degraded.

What sticks to copper?

Copper can stick to substances like other metals, through processes like welding or soldering. Adhesive materials specifically designed for bonding to metal surfaces can also stick to copper. Additionally, patinas or surface coatings can be applied to copper to create an adhesive surface for other materials to stick to.

How do you stick copper to copper?

With fllux, solder and a torch. clean both surfaces with steel wool or sand paper, put a thin film of flux on each piece on the entire area that will be joined. Heat on one side and put the solder on the opposite side. When the copper get hot enough to melt the solder, the flame from the torch will draw the solder to it. That way you know there is solder in the whole joint.

Why would you seem to have a lot of gas leaks lately while soldering joints that might be attributed to using MAPP Gas with Power Flux?

i only use silver solder comes in a flat stick ,and flows effortless on copper and brass without any flux, sounds like your solder is not flowing due to lack of heat using mapp, acetylene is the best but try the silver solder without flux

What epoxy stick is best for water drips on copper pipes?

It is called Brazing rods or lead free solder

How do you solder?

Step 1) Twist the two parts together (only do this if you are soldering two wires together).Step 2) When the soldering iron is hot enough, tin the tip of it with solder or tinning compund.Step 3) Heat the parts that are going to be joined. DO NOT MOVE THE SOLDERING IRON.Step 4) Slowly push the solder into the heated area. Sing 1 2 3 4 5 once I caught a fish alive while you are doing this. This is becuase when you finish singing it, enough solder will have melted onto the joint.Step 5) Clean the tip of the soldering iron by rubbing on a damp sponge.Step 6)Leave the solder to cool and harden.u have to use the right type of metals but for like wires u would twist the two together like _ _ not like /\ under a wire nut and use a soldering stick to heat up the exposed part of the wire and brush the solder across and it will melt on it and down into it== ==Use the soldering iron to heat both the solder pad and the parts lead at the same time. Give it a couple seconds to heat up and then apply your solder, using just enough to cover the soldering pad and connect to the wire lead. Then let the connection cool. Be sure that the part lead doesn't move during the cooling phase or you'll get what they call a cold solder joint. It takes a little practice but it's no rocket science, either. The solder should be a `rosin core` solder. What that means is that the solder has soldering flux built into it which helps clean the connection after being heat activated and also helps to ensure that the solder will flow evenly as well as adhere to the metal.A cold solder joint looks grainy and dull in appearance. A good solder joint looks shiny. If you get a cold joint, reheat it and let the solder cool down again, and if necessary, it's OK to add a touch more solder.

How do you solder onto a universal pcb?

The solder wont stick.

What is used to help solder stick to metal?

Flux cleans the metal and helps the solder stick.

What metal stick do you use when soldering iron?

That metal stick is called led

What keeps a solder joint clean?

A clean solder joint is achieved by using the right amount of flux, ensuring surfaces are free from contaminants such as oil or grease, and using clean tools and materials. Proper temperature control and soldering technique also help maintain a clean joint.

Does a magnet stick to copper?

No, a magnet does not stick to copper because copper is not a magnetic material.
