There are no any disadvantages of procedure oriented programming in C++. You can use it as well as object oriented programming, generic programming or any other paradigm. Just remember that this way you won't be using many helpful features of that language.

The main disadvantage to procedural programming is that the data and the methods that manipulate that data are completely separate. In effect, the data is "exposed" and can be easily invalidated by errant manipulation.

We still use procedural programming in object-oriented programming, but the data can now be passed around the procedures as objects. The difference is that the objects are solely responsible for their own internal data (known as encapsulation, or data hiding). The procedures use the object's exposed interface to manipulate the data in a highly-controlled and predictable manner, thus ensuring the data remains valid at all times.
