Depending on voltage and amperage needed to run the motor,say,3volts.If you use a 3+volt capacitor what will happen is that the motor will turn once(not rev/min) and stop when the capacitor is completely drained which would occur in about half a second or less.

Can you convert a DC motor to run on AC?

The easiest way would be to convert the AC power to DC by using a rectifier diode and a filter capacitor. In that way you can now run your DC motor on DC.

What is the function of a capacitor in motor circuit?

Mostly capacitor is used in the induction motors to improve the power factor , and make them to work as a self starting machine. In the small size , capacity dc motor has capacitor across it to smooth running without spark

Can rectifier use in fan in case of capacitor?

Yes, a rectifier can be used in a fan application where a capacitor is involved, particularly in AC to DC conversion systems. The rectifier converts alternating current (AC) from the power supply into direct current (DC), which can then be smoothed out by the capacitor to provide a stable voltage for the fan motor. This setup is common in low-power fans that utilize DC motors and can improve efficiency and performance.

Why do we use capacitor on fan motor or blowers?

Some AC motors are designed to start running as soon as electricity is provided. Other AC motors are designed for a specific purpose and do not start on AC current. They will RUN on AC, but require a DC current to start. Here's where the capacitor comes in. It stores DC power that, when released, starts the motor turning. At this point, AC current will nicely run the motor.

What capacitor blocks either ac or DC?

Always DC.

What happens when a capacitor connected across a battery for a long time?

For a long time, The capacitor will be charged to the voltage of the DC battery, the positive side of the capacitor touching the positive terminal of the battery. Not much DC current will conduct, except for some tiny leakage current due to imperfection of the cap. The battery will be drained eventually.
