John Fitch
John Fitch was assisted in building the steamboat by several individuals, including skilled craftsmen and financiers who supported his efforts. Notably, Fitch collaborated with a mechanic named William Longstreet, who contributed technical expertise. Additionally, Fitch sought the financial backing of investors to fund his ambitious project, which culminated in the successful launch of his steamboat in 1787.
The first successful steamboat was in 1807 by the American inventor Robert Fulton. However, John Fitch made the first successful trial steamboats.

John Fitch is said to have invented the Steamboat but to my knowledge Robert Fulton is most known for inventing it.

I'm not sure though but the steam boat is made by John Fitch :)
John Fitch made his first successful Steamboat on August 22, 1787. On August 26, 1791, he was granted the patent for the Steamboat. Robert Fulton, on August 7, 1807, was credited for turning the Steamboat into a success, though.
John Fitch invented the original steamboat, but Robert Fulton is usually credited with the invention of the steamboat, since he was American and brought it to America, while Fitch was British.

In August 1791, John Fitch was granted a patent for a steamboat. There was a dispute over the first design since James Rumsey had a design very similar to that of John Fitch.
I think John Fitch made the steamboat!!!
