A circuit carrying current in one direction is called a direct current (DC) circuit. In a DC circuit, the flow of electric charge is constant and does not change direction. This is in contrast to an alternating current (AC) circuit, where the flow of electric charge changes direction periodically. DC circuits are commonly used in electronics and power transmission systems.

While selecting the circuit breaker for a particular location in the power system the fault level at that point is determined.

A closed circuit is one where the current is flowing continuously from the source to the load and back to the source, completing a loop. An open circuit, on the other hand, is one where the current cannot flow because the circuit is broken at some point.
