Who invented Aquaducts?

Paid laborers, slaves, and the legions all had part in building the aqueducts. The Romans built the aqueducts over the course of many centuries and therefore they were commissioned by various men. During the period of the Roman Republic (509 BC-27 BC) the censors were in charge of public works and therefore commissioned the aqueducts. The first aqueduct was commissioned in 312 BC by Appius Claudius Caecus and was named Aqua Claudia, after him. The Anius Vetus was built in 272-269 BC and was commissioned by Manius Curius Dentatus. The Aqua Marcia was built in 1440-140 BC and was commissioned by Quintus Marcius Rex., who also repaired the Anius Vetus. The Auqa Tepula was built in 126 BC and was commissioned C by G. Servilius Caepio and L. Cassius Longinus. Agrippa, who was in charge of public works under Augustus, commissioned the Aqua Julia (33 BC) and the Aqua Virgo (19 BC).
