Wrenn first referred to cultural encapsulation in his 1962 work, The Culturally Encapsulated Counselor. His term is cited in numerous current works referring to culturally competent counseling. Cultural encapsulation is the process of working with clients from an ethnocentric perspective, where one does not effectively understand the world view and culture of origin of the client, nor do they integrate this knowledge into the counseling process. Thus, cultural encapsulation is problematic in therapy and can negatively impact the therapeutic alliance.
Passive objects encapsulate state and operations, whereas active objects also encapsulate a process. Standard C++ does not support active objects.
In C and C++, as well as in many (all?) languages, a function can be called from more than one place in a program. That's the purpose of functions - to encapsulate pieces of code that are needed in more than one place in the program.
External variables, or global variables, are generally frowned upon because any code with access to the variables can alter the variables in unexpected ways. Object oriented programming addresses this problem by allowing programmers to encapsulate those variables into an object (often a singleton object) which provides far greater control over how those variables may be altered.
Concept: use order and number of elements of some data structure to control iterationTwo strategies:"Passive" iterator: provide a set of functions for a data structure that the user can use to construct a loop using while, for, etc."Active" iterator: encapsulate the loop control in an operation, and only allow the user to provide the loop body; in other words, provide a "functional form" or a template operation for the entire loop
DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) a communication protocol thatlet applications call each other.OLE was the first protocolthat enabled users and programmers to create compounddocuments-that is documents that contain data from differentapplications (for example an Excel worksheet inside a Worddocument). Depending on the application's needs compounddocuments can completely encapsulate other simpler documents(embedding) or contain simply a reference to existingdocuments (linking). When the user clicks on an embedded orlinked document inside a compound document Windows runs theapplication that's capable of dealing with that particulartype of document.
