The 89S52 has four different ports. Each one of the ports has eight input/output lines. The ports are used to output data.
pls can someone help me with a code or giudeline on this project am currently working on. my project is on reading data from a microcontroller (89s52) via serialport to Eight textboxes on a PC GUI using C#,am using Visual studio 2008.Am having problems on how to display the ASCII characters e.g(55,23,12,34,42,33,22,23,N 55,23,12,34,42,33,22,23,N,55,etc),also be able to store the read data into an access database using C#.
That depends on the specific microcontroller.

The PIC is a specific architecture of microcontroller.
to determine the state condition of microcontroller's input when microcontroller is reading the input port
8051 family
89s51 and 89s52 both are same version of 8051 microcontroller
S stands for serial

89S52 has ISP so S stands for : Serial in System programmable.
There are many tradeoffs that must be considered to make a proper choice, neither is better in all cases. However many projects just use personal prejudice (oops sorry, preference) to choose as they are lazy (oops sorry, it takes less work).
That depends on the specific microcontroller.
a family
internal and external memory
I'm more of a PIC guy, but as far as i understood it, yes 8051 instruction set is the same for all 8051 legacy devices. That includes 89s52. You can find this out in device specific datasheet. For 89s52 it is written in a first row like this "Compatible with MCS®-51 Products".
