The hardness of any material is how much it keep it's original shape when put under pressure against another material. Example a drill or cutting tip will have to harder than the material it has to cut, so must maintain it's cutting edge and shape to cut effectively.

Hardness is usually measured using a vickers scale, or the old Brinell way which are both a method of testing the hardness of a material.

How is mechanical Engineering and its specializations?

Mechanical Engineering is a branch of engineering dealing with the design, construction, and use of machines. Mechanical engineering is the discipline that applies the principles of engineering, physics, and materials science for the design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems.

What is mechanical profiling?

Mechanical profiling is a technique used to analyze the mechanical properties of materials, often by measuring their response to various forces or stresses. This process can involve techniques such as indentation, tensile testing, or dynamic mechanical analysis to determine characteristics like hardness, elasticity, and strength. The data obtained from mechanical profiling helps in understanding material performance under different conditions, guiding material selection and engineering applications. It is widely used in fields such as materials science, engineering, and quality control.

What is the difference between mechanical engineering and industrial engineering and management?

Mechanical engineering deals with principles of engineering, physics and materials science for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. Industrial engineering deals with the optimization of complex processes or systems. It is concerned with the development, improvement, implementation and evaluation of integrated systems of people, money, knowledge, information, equipment, energy, materials, analysis and synthesis.

Why vector calculus are used in mechanical engineering?

Mechanical engineering usually deals with forces and their effects on materials. Forces are vectors and so, to study their effects you need to use vector calculus.

Why Bcc and fcc materials are best to make mechanical applications?

Body-centered cubic (BCC) and face-centered cubic (FCC) materials are preferred for mechanical applications due to their favorable mechanical properties. FCC materials, like aluminum and copper, offer high ductility and excellent toughness, making them ideal for forming processes. BCC materials, such as iron and tungsten, exhibit high strength and hardness at elevated temperatures. Together, these crystal structures provide a balance of strength, ductility, and toughness essential for various engineering applications.

WhatImportance of mechanical metallurgy to material and metallurgical engineering?

it is used to know and improve the quality of materials.

What test is used to dertemined if one material is harder than another?

The Rockwell hardness test is commonly used to determine the hardness of materials by measuring the depth of penetration of an indenter under a specific load. This test is widely used in manufacturing and engineering to compare the relative hardness of different materials.

What is a Bachelor of Science in mechanical Engineering compared to Degree in Mechanical Engineering?

It's the same thing. If you have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, you have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

What is mrt class?

MRT class refers to the classification of materials based on their mechanical properties and performance characteristics, particularly in the context of materials used in engineering and manufacturing. It typically categorizes materials according to their tensile strength, ductility, hardness, and other relevant factors. Understanding MRT class helps engineers select appropriate materials for specific applications, ensuring safety and efficiency in design.
