VAL(CharVariable) Hope this helps
use the _itoa function
The characters are like the letters of the alphabet, exclamation marks, dollars signs, etc, unless other wise specified. Everything I just wrote here are characters. "Use 6 to 8 Characters" would mean just type in a 6 or 8 letter word or random letters. Alpha/Numeric would be letters and numbers like a password:.....answer22it.com......would be alpha/numeric.
Val() function is used in Visual Basic 6.0 to convert a string to a numeric value (such as integer, double etc.) or to extract a numeric value out of a string, as illustrated below.Val function as used to convert a string to a numeric valuefor example, let str be a string,Dim str as stringDim int as integerstr="09090"int=val(str)gives int = 9090also, used to extract the numeric part out of a following string,ie. a=val("98ASR_tyui") would give a=98however,b=val("The89")would give b=0 as there is no numeric value preceding the string.
You need to redefine the char field either in W/S or where it is defined in the input file. If you redefine a char field to numeric you should do a numeric test on the field before using it as numeric, otherwise your may abend with a S0C7. Yea, that's the hard way to do it above... This is one of the most common Easytrieve questions I encounter in the field. There is a macro that is shipped from CA called ALHPACON. You send it an alpha field and it returns a numeric. %ALHPACON ALPHA-FIELD NUMERIC-FIELD Ask your systems programmer to look for the shipped macros if it is not in your maclib.
You cannot. An Integer is a numeric value whereas a boolean array list is a collection of a number of true or false values. So, you cannot convert either into the other
Group1 is considered Alpha-Numeric because it has both alphabet characters and numeric characters.
