The area available for flow along the length of the Compressors are chosen so that it decreases along the length of the compressor, due to increase in density as air gets compressed across the stages. The cross sectional area distribution across the length of the compressor is chosen for design conditions. At lower rotational speeds of the compressor, the density increase is limited as the pressure rise is very less and flow accelerates in a converging duct resulting in higher velocities in the exit. This problem is severe resulting in high machine vibration and possible component failure for a compressor designed to produce pressure ratio of over 8:1 in a single shaft. Starting the compressor (and hence the engine) becomes a problem then. To overcome this, two shaft arrangement is used so that high pressure compressor rotates at higher speeds, thereby splitting the pressure rise between the spools to alleviate this issue. High pressure compressor and Low pressure compressor are aerodynamically coupled instead of mechanical coupling. Hence HPC drives the LPC by demanding mass flow or spilling it in to bypass.

What are the difference between petrol engine and mpfi engine?

There is no difference. Petrol is just another name for gasoline. MPFI just means Multi-Point Fuel Injection. A petrol (gasoline) engine can be MPFI or it can have a carburetor. It can have many different ways to get gasoline (petrol) to the cylinders.

What is a twin engine airplane?

A twin engine airplane is an airplane which has two engines for the purposes of redundancy and/or performance. Twin engine aircraft are considerably more complex to fly than single engine aircraft, and so the FAA requires a special multi-engine endorsement in order to operate them.

Where is the axle located?

The drive axle's location depends on whether the automobile is front or rear-wheel drive. It is somewhat more complex than a dead axle because it comes in two halves, with a multi-ended joint connecting the two. This joint is called a constant velocity or CV joint. It connects to the driveshaft, a rod which extends from the automobile's transmission, which is connected to the automobile's engine. As the driveshaft turns, the motion is transferred to the drive axles via the CV joint. This causes the wheels connected to the ends of the axle to turn. While 4-wheel drive vehicles have two drive axles, all automobiles must have at least one drive axle to function.

What is the function of super heater?

A superheater increases the temperature of the steam for use in a turbine or an engine. Without the additional heat, a multi-stage turbine or engine will get moisture (water) in the lower pressure stages as the steam cools, causing erosion of the blades or cylinders.
