What is the difference between ic and transistors?

1. the device will be larger and heavier, from a couple times larger and heavier to billions of times larger and heavier depending on the specific IC
2. the cost of the transistors and other components will be much much higher than the cost of the IC
3. it may not even be possible to make the device work, due to higher parasitic capacitance and inductance and the longer propagation delay times caused by the longer interconnects between parts
4. etc.

Ic is used to amplify both ac and dc currents but transistor can only amplify the ac currents. Efficiency of ic is more greater than transistor.
