What is the importance of Industrial Engineering?

The Industrial engineering dept is firstly and upmostly a service department. The main objective is to provide effective support as required in terms of providing efficient reports after studying cases, measuring, analysing and then reporting with end required result with supportive recommendations/conclusions. The IE will be responsible for making time studies, measuring individual performances, motion studies of proper ways of managing an specific job, recording of times, analyse, and standardize those times, recommendations on reducing waste of materials and utilities, designing adequate tools when required, making production layouts/workstation layout proposals, revolving around production floor and determining better ways/production procedures.

The industrial engineer have the co-responsibility to increase individual/section productivity either by implementing proper working methods, proper line balancing, identifying manual works than can be done more effectively while using proper tools, identifying bottle necks and making better work flow, design training programs and train workforce, or brainstorming of workforce.

The IE department should also provide proper reports such as reports where performance and effecicience are being measures v/s target, and scientific recommendations should be made accordingly, or any other kind of report which can be used as a tool measure the productivity, or can it be a tool for reference to be able to be more efficienct.
