That changes all the time, since they do upgrades. I suggest you go to the Java download page, and check for yourself. There are mainly two versions: one for developers (programmers) to create Java programs, and one which is required by those that only want to run Java programs (this part is included in the developer version). The size would also depend on the platform (i.e., 32-bit Windows, 64-bit Windows, Linux, etc.), so you better check for yourself, for the platform of your choice. Note: The basic Java download doesn't include an IDE, even in the developer version; if you want an IDE (which would make sense), you have to download it separately. Java is usually already included in any IDE you download.
