An output that can be placed in any of three (tri-) states: high, low, and disconnected. The disconnected state is provided so that these outputs can be used to drive common shared buses with all tristate outputs kept in the disconnected state except one, that one will drive the buss then in the next buss cycle that could disconnect and a different one would connect. This permits sharing without collisions.

What does a tristate signal in electronics signify?

a digital signal that can disconnect from the line it is driving to let something else drive it

What is wired logic?

Wired logic refers to a method of constructing digital circuits where the logical functions of the circuit are implemented through physical connections and components, rather than through programmable logic devices or software. In wired logic systems, the outputs are determined by the fixed interconnections of gates, resistors, and other electronic components. This approach can lead to faster and more reliable performance for specific applications, as it eliminates the overhead associated with programmable solutions. However, it lacks the flexibility of reconfigurable logic circuits.

How tristate occurs in a microcontroller?

Tristate in a microcontroller occurs when a pin is configured to operate in a high-impedance state, effectively disconnecting it from the circuit. This is typically achieved by configuring the pin as an input or by setting it to a special mode that allows it to neither drive a high nor a low signal. This state is useful for preventing bus contention when multiple devices share the same communication lines, allowing only one device to drive the line at any given time. In this way, tristate control is essential for managing data flow in multi-device environments.

What is script logic?

Script logic refers to the structured set of instructions or code that dictates how a script functions within a programming or scripting environment. It encompasses the flow of control, decision-making processes, and the manipulation of data to achieve specific outcomes. In essence, script logic defines the behavior and operations that a script will perform when executed, enabling automation and interaction with various software applications or systems.

What are the different kinds of Logic Gates?

AND, OR, XOR, BUFFERNAND, NOR, XNOR, NOT/INVERTERAny of these except the BUFFER and NOT/INVERTER can have 2 or more inputs.Any of these can have Schmitt Trigger inputs to reduce noise sensitivity.Any of these can have a tristate output driver that can be switched off by a control input. This results in a potentially unlimited number of variant logic gates.
