It's probably best used for plinking. I just bought and restored one of these guns and it is very accurate with just iron sights so I plan to use it to hunt squirrel.
Carbon fiber is used in a lot of applications, including automotive body panels, bicycle frames and wheels, aircraft, boats, rifle barrels, rifle receivers, and many other uses.
The Model 24 was made in two configurations - one would shoot only 2 short (usually used for gallery rifles at arcades) and the other for 22 long rifle. If it is not marked on the side of the barrel (and it should be), take the gun apart and see if a 22 LR will slide completely into the chamber. If not, it is a 22 short.

The JC Higgins Model 101.23 .22 caliber rifle was manufactured by High Standard Manufacturing Company. JC Higgins was a brand used by Sears, Roebuck and Co. to market sporting goods and firearms. The rifle was produced in the mid-20th century and is known for its quality and reliability.
The J.C. Higgins Model 10124 single-shot rifle was produced by the J.C. Higgins brand, which was a private label used by the Sears, Roebuck and Company for firearms sold from the late 1940s to the early 1960s. Specifically, the Model 10124 was manufactured during the 1950s. Therefore, the rifle would be approximately 60 to 70 years old, depending on the exact year of production.
The rifle was made for sears between 1955 and 1962. No stamped parts were used until after 1964. It is a good rifle.
Your rifle was made by Marlin for Sears, but used a different serial number sequence, making it difficult to date it precisely. The JC Higgins name was only used on the model 45 from 1958 to 1961. By the way, that is a really good deer rifle.
You first have to determine who made the rifle since JC Higgins was a brand name used by Sears. Sears purchased rifles from several different manufacturers (Winchester, High Standard, and Marlin to name a few) and had their name (Sears or JC Higgins) applied. When you have determined who actually made the gun, a JC Higgins marked model is worth about 10-20% less than the manufacturer's model.
JC Higgins was a brand name used by Sears. Your rifle is a Marlin Model 80 which started production in 1960. Sears dropped the JC Higgins brand in 1962, and replaced it with Ted Williams. So your rifle was made sometime between 1960 and 1962. Nice rifles, by the way.
Used air guns are just like used cars. The current condition determines the price. You have not given enough information to get an estimate of value. You need to describe it. State if it is still working. Give some kind of estimate of the current condition. Your BB rifle was made by Daisy for Sears under the JC Higgins brand name. The model number is 799.19200
It is a Crosman model 180. 22 cal. C02 Rifle. Mfg 1956-59 and again in 1962-67' In order to give you an estimate of the value, I need to know the condition of the Rifle. Is it in brand new condition? Used, Well used, does it still shoot? Is the stock chipped gouged or broken? What condition is the barrel in? All these play a factor in estimating the rifle.
no. The J C Higgins brand was not used until much later.
I have parts for that model. sales@countrygunsmith.net
The rifleman as seen on the old TV series used a Winchester model 1892 rifle,or a reproduction of that rifle.
