Thermoplastics are used for packaging because they can be softened and reshaped as many times as the material can take. This is good, because then they can be recycled and the plastic can be used again.
Thermosetting plastics however, can only be shaped once, as the polymers bond together and are inseparable. This would mean for every piece of packaging more plastic would have to be made, which would be very bad environmentally, as a lot of crude oil and other resources would need to be used up. This cannot be sustained, therefore, thermoplastics are used instead.
Acetal is a commonly used name for a family of thermoplastics. Its chemical name is PolyoxyMethylene.Another commonly used name for thermoplastics is Hotmelt.
Because thermoplastic materials melt when they are heated !

because they melt... read thermoplastics very slowly
Common thermoplastics found in most households include polyethylene (used in plastic bags and containers), polypropylene (found in food containers and some furniture), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC, used in pipes and vinyl flooring). Additionally, polystyrene can be found in packaging materials and disposable cutlery. These materials are popular due to their versatility, durability, and ease of processing.

Thermoplastics are characterized by their ability to be repeatedly softened and reshaped when heated and hardened upon cooling. Unlike thermosetting plastics, which permanently cure and cannot be remolded, thermoplastics can be melted and reprocessed multiple times without significant degradation. This property makes them versatile for various applications, including packaging, automotive parts, and consumer goods. Additionally, thermoplastics are often known for their excellent impact resistance and flexibility.
Because it can be melted down , also it can be re-used as it can be reshaped.

Very true.
Kayaks can be made out of thermoplastics, a company called delta makes a bunch.
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is commonly used in construction for pipes, window frames, and siding due to its durability and resistance to corrosion. It is also used in medical devices, clothing, and furniture because of its versatility and low cost. Additionally, PVC is employed in packaging materials and electrical cables.
