scientist make transgenic organism because they want to improve things or foods they study...For instance, we have seen that some types of sharks seem to have a natural resistance to developing certain types of cancer. What if we could isolate that trait by safely moving it into rats? We could then perhaps move it a second step, into humans. Less cancer = better. Same goes for many things that other animals do "better" than humans (insulin production, high blood pressure etc). Also, as a believer in transhumanism, I have to mention the possibility of not just removing bad things from our genome, but also ADDING good things. The possibilities are, literally, only limited by our imagination and will to improve.

What medical products may result from research into transgenic plants and animals?

Medical products that may result from research into transgenic plants and animals include genetically modified organisms that can produce therapeutic proteins, such as insulin or vaccines, in large quantities. Transgenic animals can also be used to study human diseases and develop treatments. Why do scientists use names for organisms?

Scientists need to use scientific names for multiple reasons. Here are three of these reasons. First, it is to avoid confusion. You see, many organisms share a common name and differs from place to place. If scientists used the common names, it could lead to incorrect data. Another reason is that it describes an organism. It brings out the organisms certain characteristics. Lastly, Latin will not change over the years. As you most likely know, Latin is a dead language, or not spoken anymore. These are three reasons why Scientists use the scientific names instead of the common names.
