how does the fineness modulus of aggregate affect the strength of concrete
fm 25 to3.5
[object Object]
aggregates are used to concrete for following purposes: 1.if totally binding materials like cement is used in concrete, the cost of concrete will be high which is uneconomical. 2.to prevent high shrinkage of concrete mix fine aggregates are used. 3.to increase the volume of concrete mix aggregates are used.
Finess Modulus is just a value (number) indicating the fineness or coarseness of the aggregate. So, a river sand (natural sand) will be in the range of2.5 or so to 2.7 and P-gravel (P-stone, Birds-eye) may be around 5.0 Natural sand is used to make concrete block. Natural sand is also used to make ready mixed structural concrete along with water, cement powder, and a coarse 3/8" to 3/4" aggregate like limestone or gravel. SO, there are ASTM standard that regulate the gradation of aggregates for concrete masonry and structural concrete (ASTM C33 is one of them). Mason sand is used in precast concrete to emulate a fine limestone-like texture. It is also used in mortar and grout.
Why it is not suitable for all concrete mixture when the amount of fine aggregate and coarse aggregate is fixed?

what would be the effect upon the unit weight of the fine and coarse aggregates be combined
fine and coarse aggregates

Gives an indication of the relationship between fine material and coarse material in a gravel mix. The higher the GM the more coarse material.

For M7.5 concrete, the common mix ratio is 1:4:8. This means:1 part cement 4 parts fine aggregates (sand)8 parts coarse aggregates. These ratio is by volume.
Plain cement concrete is primarily composed of three key materials: cement, aggregates, and water. The cement acts as a binding agent, while aggregates, which include fine aggregates (like sand) and coarse aggregates (like gravel or crushed stone), provide bulk and strength. The water facilitates the chemical reaction that allows the cement to harden and bind the aggregates together. Typically, the mix ratio can vary, but a common formulation is 1 part cement, 2 parts sand, and 4 parts coarse aggregates by volume.
Why it is not suitable for all concrete mixture when the amount of fine aggregate and coarse aggregate is fixed?
Fine aggregates are the aggregates whose size is less than 4.75 mm.Example: Sand is used as fine aggregate in the preparation of concrete and cement mortar.
The homonym for "not fine" is "naught" which means zero or nothing.
