A lever works on the principle of using torque. A screw driver is used as a lever because the relatively broader handle produces much more torque for the same force as compared to the narrower blade of the screw driver.

Push the button on the handle as you raise the handle. It will have to be pulled up firmly till you feel the cable release, then release the handle. Remember to keep the button down until the handle is all the way back down. You may have to do it again if someone has really pulled the cable up super tight!

I had a real problem with my 2006 Solstice convertible when it came to putting the top up and down. I realized later that the top must have shrunk somewhat from being out in the hot sun. If you release the handle inside the cockpit first, then push the release button in the glove box, the wings will release much easier and allow the trunk to open. Otherwise you have to literally pull the wings up after you have released the button, release the handle, then have another person re-press the glovebox button as you simultaneously quickly lift up on the trunk. It is much easier if you just follow the procedure I suggested in the beginning if that describes your symptoms. Good luck.
If you do not have a yellow trunk release button in the glove box. there is an emergancy release handle inside of the trunk. Fold down your rear seat back and there is a white plastic handle pull it and the trunck will open.

Depends on the vehicle. On some you push a button on the brake handle. On others you twist the handle. On others you pull a lever under the dash. And on others you simply start the engine and put the car in gear and the brake will release automatically.
