Chromatic an adjective used to describe either color or music. In color, it means "colorful, using many or all colors." In music, A "chromatic scale" is a scale that uses all twelve notes. A "chromatic song" is a song that uses a lot of notes outside of the key signature.

In color: "Gerald's painting was very chromatic; it used many different colors."

In a musical scale: "The notes of a chromatic scale are A Bb B C Db D Eb E F Gb G Ab"

In a song: "The song was very chromatic and atonal; it used many notes not in the scale and key signature."
