The Alveus Taurus was the narrow neck of water by which ships entered the ancient Great Harbor of Alexandria--it was several hundred yards wide and ran between the Pharos Lighthouse and the Diabratha breakwater which angled north and then northeast from the Lochias Promonotory where the Royal Palace was located.
