You can. When you right click on a word or group of words that Word has marked as grammatically incorrect, a menu pops up. Click on "Grammar...", then "Options..." and uncheck the box that says "Check grammar as you type." In this menu box, you can even set which specific mistakes you want the grammar checker to ignore (i.e., fragments or comma use). Just click on the "Settings..." button underneath the Writing Style drop-down box on the bottom right-hand corner.
