A clinical area is composed of the ground floor space within any hospital, theatre, tertiary clinic / home where patients reside, receive treatment or have access to for their daily activities. This should include side rooms, utility rooms, and gyms or annexed offices which lead directly into the Patients environment or bedside areas. A clinical area may be described as the environment which is most susceptible to the transmission of communicable infections, Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs) and that which is regularly cleaned throughout the day to reduce the risk of bacterium increasing thus implementing Infection Control.
