What is encoding technique?

There are four possible combinations of encoding techniques -Digital data, digital signal -Digital data, analog signal -Analog data, digital signal -Analog data, analog signal

What are the digital encoding schemes?

converting digital data to digital signal.

What is the digital to digital signal encoding technique?

The digital encoding techniques are of two types--Polar and Bipolar. The polar encoding are--RZ(Return to Zero), NRZ (No RZ) , Manchester and Differential Manchester. Bipolar encoding are--AMI ( Alternate Mark Inversion) and BnZS ( Bipolar n Zero Substitution).

What is the difference between encoding and modulation?

Encoding: The way in which the computer data is represented is known as encoding, there are several encoding techniques (Unipolar, Bipolar and Biphase).Modulation: Modulation is the method of changing some of the characteristics of the message signal so that it can be transmitted to comparatively large distance without(least) getting affected by noise or unwanted signals.Encoding: The way in which the computer data is represented is known as encoding, there are several encoding techniques (Unipolar, Bipolar and Biphase).Modulation: Modulation is the method of changing some of the characteristics of the message signal so that it can be transmitted to comparatively large distance without(least) getting affected by noise or unwanted signalsEncoding : Digital or Analog data --> Digital signalmodulation : Digital or Analog data --> Analog signal

Is PCM is an example of analog to digital?

No, Pulse Code Modulation is a communication method used to carry digital data but is not part of any analog to digital conversion. PCM is often used to carry audio data as a digital stream and therefore is the encoding used as the signal is first converted to a digital format.

Different types of signal encoding technique?

n Digital data, digital signal n Equipment less complex and expensive than digital-to-analog modulation equipment n Analog data, digital signal n Permits use of modern digital transmission and switching equipment n Digital data, analog signal n Some transmission media will only propagate analog signals n E.g., optical fiber and unguided media n Analog data, analog signal n Analog data in electrical form can be transmitted easily and cheaply

What is SDTV?

SDTV stands for Standard Definition Television. It refers to TV that isn't HDTV (High-Definition Television). In the US, SDTV is 525 line with NTSC color encoding or 480 lines if the signal is digital. The figure of 480 refers to the number of active lines that make up the image. Note that the analog signal with 525 lines has blank lines at the beginning and end of each image, so the active area is still around 480 lines, plus or minus a few lines. In Europe, SDTV is 625 line with PAL color encoding, or 576 lines if the signal is digital. As with the US signal, the number 576 refers to the number of active lines making up the image. Whether or not the signal is digital, the resolution is identical. Digital signals will be component or RGB based and don't use NTSC or PAL encoding. Component signals however still carry the same information as PAL or NTSC signals. Component, whether digital or analog will normally provide significantly better image quality than either PAL or NTSC analog signals. In comparison, HDTV resolution uses 720 lines or 1080 lines for the image, so providing more detail.

Which of the following is a prerequisite for effective digital communications?

Both the sender and receiver must use the same line encoding scheme There should be no DC component present in the signal

Which layer of the OSI reference model is responsible for signal encoding?

Physical layer which is the first layer in OSI reference model is responsible for signal encoding and decoding.

What are basic elements of digital signal processing?

The basic elements in digital signal processing are an analog to digital converter, digital signal processor, and digital to analog converter. This process can take an analog input signal, convert it to digital for processing and offer an analog output.

Is NTSC TV and HD TV the same?

No, they are different things. NTSC is the color encoding process used in North America for standard definition video signals. In Europe, a similar encoding system called PAL is used for standard definition video. HD video is never encoded into a single signal and therefore neither NTSC nor PAL play any part in the transmission of any HD signal.
