Almost all of us have seen an painting with the some saint people on it or with an angel. This something around their head - a halation has also its eqiuvalent in the nature. This is what the scientists call the halo effect. The hallo is an optical effect taking part in the Earth's atmosphere. It is caused by reflection and refraction of solar or lunar rays on the ice pellets in Cirrostratus clouds or in a icy fog. The most popular form of this effect are circles around the Sun or the Moon. Halo has the rainbow's colors, what is caused by a light dispersion. The other form of halo is so called parhelium. The shortest decription of this is that we can see three or more Suns. In fact only one is a true Sun and the others are only a bizarre. You can observe parhelium in a windless day, when the sun is low placed . The light is dispersed n the ice pellets and forms vertical rays. Some of them can have extremely striking colours so we can think it is a second Sun.
