I don't think the books tell whether she does LIVE near it. It definetely mentions it though. I think that in the computer games, she makes a trip to Twin Elms in "The Secret of the Old Clock" (Game 12). She was solving a mystery around there, but I don't think she lives near there.
Nathan Gomber is the mastermind of all troubles in "Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase". He warned Nancy Drew to stay with her father because he will be in trouble, but instead, Nancy stayed with her Aunt Rosemary Hayes and Miss Flora Turnbull because Nancy believed that Carson Drew can take care of himself. But in the middle of the story, Nancy found out that his father was kidnapped by Nathan Gomber, and the ghost haunting the house in Twin Elms was Willie Wharton requested be Nathan Gomber.
The conflict in "Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase" centers around Nancy Drew trying to solve the mysterious occurrences happening at Twin Elms, a mansion she is visiting. The conflict involves Nancy unraveling the secrets of the hidden staircase in the mansion and uncovering the truth behind the haunting and threatening events.
