There are two different forms of the verb to take, used differently :

TAKING - (noun or present participle) the act of obtaining something

TAKEN - the past participle form

Examples : "Taking your wallet is important on a trip."

Examples : "I am taking my wallet on the trip"

Examples : "He has taken my sandwich every day."
